I ponder His lovingkindness
More wonderful than life
As He speaks He directs
In His way that is right
If I veer from the path
He has made to me so clear
My soul would be burdened
And so desperate to hear
His Word that speaks so tender
To my heart, to my soul
The words He gave forever
To each one in His fold
Trust Him on this path tho winding
What He has will amaze
Not only me but others
It’s what He’s known for always
You see He knew us before
He knit us together with works in mind
He’s gifted us to be His vessels
Of praise for His glory at all times
Even when the path turns
In ways challenging and unexpected
Hold tight for He is with us
Tho by others we’re rejected
He knows how it feels
To be lied to and betrayed
But we can count on Him, the I AM
The Faithful and True always
He has plans for us beloved
More than imagined or dreamed
And now that you’ve awakened
The doubt is too redeemed
Stir the gift within you
It’s for His purpose to use
Love for Him once realized
Will be unable to refuse
For there will be no other outlet
To express what He’s given
Except that which He’s prepared
Respond in faith to His commission

Story Behind the Verse
These words spilled out from my heart and onto the page as I pondered His word. A sense of a calling to a particular work was heavy upon me as I wrote this years ago. Sometimes it’s scary to step out of our comfort zone to do what God calls us to do. Getting our focus off ourselves and focused on who He is gives us all we need to follow His direction. I’ve updated somewhat, but the meaning is still the same. Below are just a few of the many scriptures that guided my thoughts.
God has created us for His purposes and given each believer gifts of the Spirit for His glory. (Rom.12:6, Eph.4, 1 Cor. 12)
He has called us. (Rom. 8:25, Col.3:15, Jude1)
His ways are right and believers are to walk in them (Hos.14:9)
Disobedience to Him is sin. If we regard sin in our heart He does not hear us. (Psalm 66:18)
He created us, knitting us together in our mother’s womb. (Psalm 139)
We are created in Christ Jesus for works He prepared beforehand for us. (Eph.2:10)
We were created to praise Him (Ps.71:6)
We cannot even imagine what God has prepared for us. (1 Cor. 2:9)
He is our commander and we are to follow Him. (1 Tim. 2:3-4)
