Hi! I’m Lisa. I am so glad you are here.
Worship is a way of life. I wholeheartedly believe it affects every area. Nothing is exempt. My passion is to encourage others to notice God and worship Him in and through our lives. By His grace and for His glory!
It is my hope that you will find inspiration and encouragement for this here. My desire is to write that which leads you to:
A deep abiding love of Jesus.
A vibrant, growing relationship with Him
A comprehensive understanding of Christianity and the Bible
A Biblical worldview
Biblically-based worship, both individually and corporately
Topics here may be widespread. But a biblical worldview should be consistent. If God is sovereign over all things and Christ is central in everything, shouldn’t we seek His heart on all things? Whether I write a devotion, a poem, on life events, current (and yes, sometimes controversial) events, my heart and goal is to seek His truth in the matter and yield to the Word of God.
Is there anything more valuable I can share than the life-giving truth found within its pages? Even in my fiction-writing I pray that truth be the foundation and compass.
A dear friend and mentor initially dubbed me “The Pondering Woman.” Why? I am always thinking. And I like to inspire others to think.
I hope you find my writing somewhat thought-provoking.
I am a writer.
It took me a long time and much encouragement to actually say those words. Looking back, I guess I should’ve recognized it a long time ago. I’ve done a ton of copywriting without realizing that’s what it was.
The first thing I remember writing was a book of poems in the 2nd or 3rd grade. My teacher thought so much of it that she put it on display in the school library.
Years later, my 9th grade English teacher told me I had a lot of promise as a writer. I joined the yearbook committee and also began to write lyrics and music.
As an adult I began writing devotionals for a Mom’s group in the Atlanta area. Years later I began writing devotionals for the worship team I was part of, based on the scriptural truth in the worship songs we would be leading each Sunday.
At the same time I was beginning college courses. This kept me consistently immersed in research and writing for 7 long years. I must’ve missed all that writing because I started my first blog just a few months after I earned my first degree in 2012. All the while, I was also writing content for distribution pieces and newsletters as part of my vocation in church ministry.
My blog is where I practice writing publicly. It’s one of the scariest things I’ve ever done.
I’m told I’m actually quite witty, though I don’t often let it be seen. It’s usually reserved as the last thing I let people see. And for only the people I want to see it. Weird, huh?
I love wordplay, and I’m quick with a witty response. Even if I don’t share it, it’s in my head. I’m not sure why I reserve that. Maybe I feel people won’t take me seriously if humorous attributes are so evident.
Who knows… Maybe I’ll get brave and write something that makes you laugh.
I deeply love my husband. He is my best friend and my greatest encourager. Between us we have 5 children; 2 daughters of whom I had the honor of giving birth, homeschooling and raising… and another daughter and 2 sons whom I am blessed to be step-mom. One son-in-law and one daughter-in-law, thus far. And 3 grand-fur-babies!
In a very short span of time I began navigating the blended family scenario… and shortly after, empty nest <insert tears> syndrome. It’s quite a change and a challenge. Even so…
God has been good. He redeems! He is faithful and true and I will share about Him as long as I have breath.
I currently live in North Carolina with my husband, Brian.
I love the body of Christ and love serving His bride. In addition to the priority ministry to my family, I started leading Bible Study in 1995, and began teaching, speaking and leading worship at women’s events around 1998. A Precept-trained leader, I love to help others discover the riches of God’s Word for themselves.
Over the last 20 years the Lord has allowed me to gain invaluable experience (and blessings!) as I’ve been involved both as a lay leader and on church staff in many areas of ministry; Worship, missions, children and VBS, youth, senior adults, discipleship, women’s ministry, event and conference organization… and yes, even men’s ministry. Not sure what He was doing in giving me such a wide experience in the body. But I know it’s not wasted.
Among these, my “sweet spots” are writing (both word and song), leading worship and bible study, missions, speaking, and event planning.
I am forever learning. I returned to college as a single mom in 2007 and earned 2 degrees as of 2015.

Besides the obvious? Pride & Prejudice. Trees. Caribbean Beaches. Mozart or movie scores when writing, especially when a deadline is involved. Fountain pens. Hot tea – Earl Grey, please. Fiji Water. Israel.
Please be patient with me. As I find and hone my voice here publicly, I’d love to know if something resonates with you. It’s my desire to build 2-way relationships with readers. That said…
